Breast cancer survivors have a substantial risk of recurrence: of the women who were cancer-free at five years, one fifth or so can develop the disease during the following decade.

The new results published in Science by Dr Katrina Podsypanina and colleagues at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, suggest that disease spread might also arise from the relatively normal cells that have spread and remain dormant at the new organ site until cancer genes are switched on.

In this way, the spread of cancer to new sites in the body - the process that is ultimately responsible for most cancer deaths - may happen earlier because it seems to be linked to normal cells migrating around the body and then mutating into a cancerous form.

This discovery suggests an explanation for why some breast cancers, for example, appear to spread throughout the body long after the initial tumour has been treated.

The team says that the next generation of treatments should target more normal breast cells as well as those that are cancerous to cut the risk of relapse.

"If follow-up research suggested that dissemination of normal breast cells can account for metastatic relapse in breast cancer patients (a hypothetical situation, at present), we would argue that treatment strategies should aim to compromise viability and/or proliferation of normal breast cells, and not just breast tumour cells."

One approach, adds Dr Podsypanina, could be to use drugs with a similar hormone action to tamoxifen, though she stressed more work needs to be done first.

Because the spread of cancer cells involves a series of steps to change the makeup of normal cells - the cells must be equipped to survive the trip in the bloodstream and initiate malignant growth in their new environment - researchers have traditionally considered it to be a late event in cancer development that occurs after tumour cells in the primary site, where cancer first develops, have racked up a series of genetic alterations that switch on cancer genes.

To investigate, team injected mice with normal mammary cells from donor mice that had been experimentally manipulated in a way that allowed the researchers to turn on in breast cells certain cancer genes, known as "oncogenes," at various times after injection.

The team, including the Nobel prizewinner Prof Harold Varmus found that the normal mammary cells were capable of traveling in the bloodstream to the lungs and surviving there for up to 16 weeks without using any oncogenes.

The donor cells did not begin growing aggressively in the lungs until the oncogenes had been turned on, by giving the recipient mice a specially treated feed.

Liz Baker, senior science information officer at Cancer Research UK, said: "Learning more about the spread of cancer - or metastasis - is essential because it is harder to treat the disease once it has spread. These are important but early results in mice - it will be interesting to see whether this can one day help the outcome of people affected by cancer."

The top five cancer-causing foods

Chips, crackers, and cookiesAll are usually made with white flour and sugar. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2. Overeating It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
10. Not urinating in the morning. 3. Too much eating. 4. Skipping breakfast. 5. Consuming too much medication. 6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener. 7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit. 8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. This is simply an accumulation of body fat and lack of muscle development. You can have nice shapely arms by incorporating 3 essentials:
1. Quality Nutrition
2. Resistance Training
3. Cardiovascular Work

Quality Nutrition for Shaping Your Arms
In order to lose the excess body fat you have to eat right. This involves cutting out the obvious junk food and including more whole and natural foods. Eating a small balanced meal every three hours works well at stabilizing your blood sugar and curtailing cravings. I know the carb-craze is still in high gear, but there is a lack of quality carbohydrate information available. You can eat carbohydrates and lose weight. I have a ton of e-clients that are living proof. A balanced meal contains a protein, carbohydrate, and fat.
Resistance Training for Shaping Your Arms
Resistance training will build the muscles, giving curves and shape to the arms. It will not create huge bulky arms, which is commonly feared among women. The more muscle you add to your arms, the leaner they will appear, as muscle takes up less space than fat and it's denser
To work the back of your arms (triceps), try the following:

Overhead Extensions – Stand up or sit in a chair and hold a barbell or dumbbell over your head. In a slow and controlled manner, lower it behind your head, keeping your elbows close to your head. Once you have lowered the bar as far as you can, bring it back to the starting position, contract the triceps, and repeat the movement.

Lying Triceps Extensions – Lie on your back on a bench and hold a barbell extended out in front of you. Slowly and in a controlled manner, lower the bar right past your forehead, keeping your elbows close to your head. Once you have lowered it as far as you can, bring it back to the starting position, contract the triceps, and repeat the movement.

Bench Dips – Place your palms on the bench or chair behind you. Extend your feet out in front of you, toes up and bend your knees. Slowly and in a controlled manner, keeping your elbows stationary and close to your body, lower your body down as far as possible. Be sure to keep your body close to the chair or bench. Using the triceps, rise back and contract your triceps, and repeat the movement.

To work your front of your arms (biceps), try the following:

Barbell Curls – Hold a barbell in front of you with your palms facing outward. In a slow and controlled fashion, curl the bar up toward your chest area, squeeze your biceps and release. Use cardio to burn extra calories and stored body fat, but don't use it as the sole element in losing weight. Keep a balance of nutrition and cardio in your program to keep the body off guard and constantly responding.
Begin cardio with 3 to 4 days a week for twenty minutes and slowly progress days and minutes each week. Athletes-bodybuilders, in particular-practice this protein-exclusive principle to muscularize before competition. You are going to eat tuna and drink water for three straight days. More and more researchers are agreeing that sugar is the problem in the modern diet. Back when I had the time to log many workouts every week, I fought constantly not to eat back all the calories I burned. Sometimes I was successful, other times—like the day I came back from a lunchtime power yoga class to find a monster brownie on my desk—not so much. You want to fuel your body when you work out of course, but not with mammoth brownies or seconds of pasta, or giant protein shakes you could swim in. A better idea: Understand the source of your raging appetite. Exercise is believed to trigger the release of a hunger-boosting hormone called ghrelin (it sounds like gremlin for a reason). It’s meant to protect the body from losing too much weight too quickly, but considering most gyms practically have a food court these days, that’s not a danger most of us face. Here’s how I keep the ghrelins at bay:

Snack First, Sweat Later
Twenty minutes later, to be exact. Exercising on an empty stomach lowers blood sugar, which can increase your appetite so you inhale your food later. You can always go for that pre-workout stalwart, a banana, but I’m not a huge fan, so I reach for about 4 ounces of yogurt or another carb-rich snack instead.

Take Preemptive Notes
Writing down everything you consume is a proven way to lose weight, but try this trick: Do it before you eat. Seeing what you’re about to put in your mouth—on paper—gives you instant perspective. Case in point: “Turkey sandwich plus two bags of chips plus a soda plus five of those cookies my co-worker brought it.” Would you eat all that? I think not.

Drink Lots of Water—On the Rocks
Studies show people who drink water regularly eat 200 fewer calories a day. Sometimes it's right away, sometimes a couple of hours after you're done exercising.
What's going on?

What's causing it?

There are a number of things that can cause after exercise headache. If you already suffer from migraine, chances are that your exercise is triggering the migraine chain-reaction. It may be that the symptoms are a little different than what you're used to - don't let that throw you off. Chances are, it's still migraine.

If that's the case, you need to deal with the "big picture" - your overall migraine issue. Talk to your doctor about the various preventative medications that may be right for you. This is for you especially if you're getting migraine symptoms a few times a month.

Your doctor also may be able to suggest a medication that you can take just before you exercise or just after, that will stop the headache before it becomes a major problem.

Other possibilities

There may be other reasons why you're getting headache. Most causes are not serious, though some can be. You may simply have an exertional headache, which can happen to anyone. Sometimes spinal problems can cause a headache.

However, if you get a new headache after you exercise, see your doctor. It could be something that needs immediate attention. These might include a brain haemorrhage (when blood vessels in the brain actually break) or other problems with blood vessels themselves.

Read the article entitled End exercise induced headache for more on after exercise headache. Included there are 10 great tips for avoiding headaches during and after exercise!

You may also enjoy this article by Dr Trisha Macnair MA, MB ChB, Dip Anaesthetics about after exercise headache and treatment. Macnair has a good summary of some of the most usual causes, and the normal treatments for each. She has also listed a few of the more common warning signs that something more serious is going on.

Still, remember to see your doctor if you have a new headache of any kind. There are more tips on our exercise induced headache page.
Some common treatments
The International Headache Society has written about two overlapping types of headache, known as primary cough headache and primary exertion headache. These are often treated with indomethecin (Indocin), an anti-inflammatory medication. Ergotamine Tartrate has been reported as helpful by some patients.

Studies on these types of headaches are still limited, however, so its best to talk to your doctor. Great, now slam the door. There you go…your acrylic nails are gone!

Just kidding But in all seriousness, removing your artificial acrylic nails can be every bit that painful if you don’t take proper measures to ensure that the procedure is as easy and non-damaging as possible.

In order to achieve naked nails the easy way, you’re going to need a few tools: Nail clippers or scissors; Nail file; Pure acetone; Large cotton balls; Aluminum foil, cut into long strips; Orangewood cuticle sticks; Nail buffer; Olive oil or heavy hand cream ; Patience–remember how long it took to put them on? Well, it usually takes at least that long to get them off.

Once you have everything ready I suggest you pop in a Shania Twain DVD and get comfortable, as removing your acrylic nails may take awhile.

Here’s what you do:

STEP 1. Grab those nail clippers and cut your nail tips down as far as you can–the shorter you can get them, the less acrylic nail you’ll ultimately have to pry off.

STEP 2. Using your nail file, file off any gel or topcoat on your acrylic nails so that they are more susceptible to the acidic qualities of the acetone.

STEP 3. Soak ten of your cotton balls in acetone until they are completely saturated.

STEP 4. Lay one soaked cotton ball over each of your acrylic fingernails.

STEP 5. Use the foil strips to wrap each cotton-topped fingernail as tightly as possible.

STEP 6. Enjoy Will, Grace, Jack and Karen’s antics for at least 20 minutes while you sit still and let the acetone work its magic. NO CHEATING!!! If you remove the foil prematurely, the acrylic will immediately start to harden again, so just hold your horses.

STEP 7. After watching at least a full episode, peel back the foils from your acrylic nails one at a time.

STEP 8. Using a clean orangewood stick, scrape the acrylic right off! It should come off easily, but if you find some stubborn residue, gently buff it off with your nail buffer.

STEP 9. Finally, massage olive oil or heavy hand cream into your nails and nail beds, as acetone is extremely drying. Continue to apply oil or lotion at least three times every day for the first few weeks your acrylic nails are off–don’t forget to do it right before bed! You can certainly keep up this ritual for life if you’re craving super-silky, healthy nails!

Avon and James Bond Franchise Introduce Signature Bond Girl 007 Womens Fragrance

Avon and James Bond Franchise Introduce Signature Bond Girl 007 Womens Fragrance

Avon Products, Inc. today announced a collaboration with the James Bond entertainment franchise, property of Danjaq LLC and Eon Productions, to create a new signature Bond Girl 007 women’s fragrance, bringing the confident allure of cinema’s sexiest icons to Avon consumers worldwide. They are also more likely to use condoms when they do have sex, wear a <a style="text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer; display: inline; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; About 48 percent of high school students were no longer virgins in 2007, down from 54 percent in 1991.

Meanwhile, just 15 percent said they'd had four or more sexual partners, down from 19 percent in 1991.

And 62 percent of sexually active students said they'd used a condom the last time they had sex, up from 46 percent in 1991.

Some 35 percent of teens had at least one drink of alcohol in the month before they were surveyed in 2007, down from 42 percent in 1991.

Marijuana used has fallen to 20 percent of students from a peak of 27 percent in 1999 while <a style="text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer; display: inline; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; But there has been little change in the number of students who said they'd stayed home from school because they felt unsafe either in the building or on the streets: seven percent in both 1991 and 2007.

Only 12 percent of students said they'd rarely or never worn a seat belt in 2007, down from 35 percent in 1991. Just 27 percent said they'd gotten into a car with a driver who'd been drinking, down from 36 percent in 1991.

"We are pleased that more high school students today are doing things that will help them stay healthy and avoiding things that put their health in danger," said Howell Wechsler, director of CDC's Division of Adolescent and School Health.

"Unfortunately we are not seeing that same progress among Hispanic teens for certain risk factors."

While their has been a significant decrease in the number of black teens who'd had sex (66 percent in 2007 compared with 82 percent in 1991) and also among white teens (44 percent in 2007 compared with 50 percent in 1991) there was no change among Hispanic teens (52 percent in 2007 and 53 percent in 1991.)

"Hispanic students were more likely than either black students or white students to attempt suicide, use cocaine, heroin or ecstasy, ride with a driver who had been drinking alcohol, or go 24 hours or more without eating in an effort to lose weight," Wechsler said in a conference call with reporters.

"Hispanic students were also more likely than both black students and white students to say they did not go to school on occasion because of safety concerns, were offered or sold illegal drugs on school property or drank alcohol on school property."

A nationally representative sample of more than 14,000 students in grades nine to 12 were surveyed.

5 Questions Women Don't Ask Their Doctors

5 Questions Women Don't Ask Their Doctors.

Women everywhere dread going to the OBGYN. It’s not just the cold metal stirrups. Sometimes invasive medical procedures can make us anxious to get out of the office ASAP. Meanwhile, some of the questions we were dying to ask the doctor are forgotten. If you’ve ever worried about your low sex drive or wondered what you can do for mild PMS, now's the time to get your questions answered.

Q. I don’t enjoy sex very much because I often experience discomfort. Is there anything a doctor can do for this?

A. Physical and emotional factors alike can contribute to painful intercourse, or dyspareunia. Certainly there are gynecological conditions that manifest as sexual discomfort, and most of them can be resolved with a physician’s guidance. It’s important to be evaluated.

Common conditions represented by superficial pain include yeast infections, dryness and vulvodynia (pain in the vulva). Vaginismus, a spasmodic tightening of the vaginal muscles, can have roots in a medical malady or be a psychological reaction to sex.

If your pain is physically deeper, it could signal anything from ovarian cysts to endometriosis to a pelvic inflammatory disease. But don’t get spooked by the possibilities. Talk to a physician about your symptoms.

Q. I’m having trouble conceiving. What can my husband and I do before resorting to expensive treatments?

A. “Healthy bodies allow you to have a baby, and healthy bodies produce healthy babies,” says Jill Blakeway, a licensed acupuncturist and fertility specialist based in New York City. “It’s really not rocket science.”

Moms-to-be should exercise in moderation to reduce stress and achieve a comfortable body weight. Eat a lot of organic fruits and vegetables and other healthy foods. “We can be pretty sure that the collective burden of all the toxins and chemicals we take in on a regular basis stresses our reproductive cycle,” Blakeway explains.

Holistic solutions can be an excellent, affordable option. And remember, getting pregnant is a team effort. Women and men alike can give fertility a strong head start by minding the following:

Avoid alcohol

Avoid coffee

Eat healthy, unprocessed foods

Reduce stress

Don’t smoke

Don’t use marijuana or other drugs

Take multivitamins

Have sex!

Many factors will come into play—age, body weight, medical history—but there are several avenues of treatment to pursue. Not all are expensive, and you might even get some assistance from your insurance carrier.

Q. Is there anything I can do about my terrible PMS? I only have it a few days each month, but those days are wretched.

A. There are over 150 symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome, from acne to swollen feet to wishing your spouse would get hit by a bus. But if you’re having extreme symptoms such as incapacitating pain, significant depression or cramps outside your normal cycle, consult a doctor to rule out more serious conditions.

Although there’s no cure-all, the right diet and exercise can bring physical and emotional relief.

Dial back the caffeine, which can bring on mood swings as well as breast soreness, and avoid alcohol. Reduce your intake of salt, sugar, fatty foods and red meat. Instead, seek sources of calcium, magnesium and vitamins B6 and E. The evidence on herbal remedies like primrose oil and chaste tree berry is anecdotal; some women swear by them, some swear at them.

Moderate aerobics (running, walking, swimming) and relaxation techniques (yoga, massage) tend to reduce fatigue, anxiety and depression.

While over-the-counter ibuprofen and diuretics can be helpful, there is better medical evidence that low doses of SSRIs—the same drugs used to counter depression—will relieve PMS symptoms effectively and rapidly.

Females Tips

The Root of Female Hair Loss
A changing balance of hormones could be the cause.

By Dr. Rob for MSN Health & Fitness

Q: I’m worried about my hair falling out when I wash my hair. I am 48 years old and am going through menopause. Does that have anything to do with it?

A: It’s not unusual for changes in hair density, growth or composition to occur during the main hormonal changes of a woman’s life—puberty, pregnancy, several months post-pregnancy or at the onset of menopause. The difference is those early changes are often temporary, while the hair loss and thinning that some women experience during menopause can be longer-lasting or permanent. This may be due to a combination of factors such as heredity, aging, illness, or the changing balance between the hormones estrogen and testosterone.

Hair loss in women tends to occur as a diffuse thinning throughout the scalp, especially on the top and sides of her head. While the changes occurring during menopause can lead to hair loss, as well as dry, coarse and fine hair, there are other reasons to consider in regards to your loss of hair. While some of these may be permanent (female pattern alopecia), others may be temporary. Common factors to consider include but aren’t limited to:

    * A genetic tendency (mother or father’s side of the family) known as female pattern alopecia. It’s thought to be related to the effects that two enzymes—5-alpha reductase and aromatase—have on the way the body forms and utilizes the hormones testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), estrone and estradiol.
    * Autoimmune disorders causing hair loss in clumps known as alopecia areata
    * Medications that may include certain blood thinners, antidepressants and drugs used in chemotherapy or for high blood pressure, birth control pills high in progestins, as well as too high a dose of specific vitamins (A) and minerals (selenium, zinc)
  * Thyroid disease
    * Overwhelming stress or anxiety
    * Poor nutrition or eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia
    * Illness such as cancer or diabetes
    * Anemia (low blood count)
    * Fungal infections of the scalp
    * Traction alopecia caused by frequent tugging or pulling forces on the hair

There is also a temporary condition known as telogen effluvium that is often triggered by a stressful event (hormonal changes, illness, medication) and results in a very noticeable shedding of hair. It also causes much of the remaining hair to be lulled into a temporary resting phase of growth. Fortunately, it tends to get better on its own as hair growth and density often returns within three to six months.

As you can tell, tracking down the source of hair loss may require some detective work. If a cause (illness, medication, hormonal or enzyme changes affecting hair follicles) can be found, medical treatment may stop the hair loss, stabilize and enhance the current state of hair health, or even help in the re-growth of hair.

The key is to determine when your hair loss began; if you’re losing more than 50 to 100 hairs per day; and whether you’re experiencing patchy hair loss or losing it in clumps. Any or all of those factors are significant and should prompt an appointment with a dermatologist or other physician who has training and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of hair loss.

Prepare Banana Bread

Prepare Banana Bread With In 90 Mints.

Prep time: about 90 minutes
  Ingredients:
  2 eggs
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. vegetable oil
2/3 c. sugar

1 c. mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)

nonstick spray

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).

Beat eggs well in a small bowl.

In a medium-size bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, add the vegetable oil. However, their previous work did not directly compare sprint versus endurance training.

The new study was conducted on 16 college-aged students who performed six training sessions over two weeks. Eight subjects performed between four and six 30-second bursts of "all out" cycling separated by 4 minutes of recovery during each training session. The other eight subjects performed 90-120 minutes of continuous moderate-intensity cycling each day. Total training time commitment including recovery was 2.5 hours in the sprint group, whereas the endurance group performed 10.5 hours of total exercise over two weeks. Despite the marked difference in training volume, both groups showed similar improvements in exercise performance and muscle parameters associated with fatigue resistance.
"Our study demonstrates that interval-based exercise is a very time-efficient training strategy," said Gibala. “This type of training is very demanding and requires a high level of motivation. However, short bursts of intense exercise may be an effective option for individuals who cite ‘lack of time’ as a major impediment to fitness."

Best Bet For Boosting Brawn In Women Is Traditional Strength Training

Best Bet For Boosting Brawn In Women Is Traditional Strength Training.

Women who want to build muscle strength and endurance should choose traditional strength training methods instead of low velocity routines, according to a recent study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning

The study, conducted by Sharon Rana, associate professor of exercise physiology, and colleagues at Ohio University, examined whether low velocity resistance training is a more effective workout than conventional routines, as some experts maintain. The team studied 34 healthy, college-aged females who performed three different training methods over a six-week period.

The methods included a traditional strength training routine, a traditional muscle endurance training routine and a low velocity regimen. The traditional strength group lifted a heavier weight load with fewer repetitions, while the traditional endurance group lifted a lighter weight load with more repetitions. The low velocity group also lifted a lighter weight load, but did their workouts much slower than the other groups and did fewer repetitions.

“What made the research a little different is that we put the various methods of resistance training all in one study and added a control group, which hadn’t been done before. The endurance group also hadn’t really been studied in conjunction with low velocity type training,” Rana said.

Participants’ workouts consisted of leg presses, back squats and knee extensions. On average, the traditional strength group lifted 499 pounds when doing leg presses, 121 pounds when doing squats and 117 pounds when doing leg extensions. The traditional endurance group lifted 341 pounds when doing leg presses, 64 pounds on squats and 48 pounds on knee extensions. The low velocity group averaged 356 pounds for leg presses, 79 pounds for squats and 55 pounds for knee extensions. Participants did three sets of each exercise during each session and were given four to five minutes of rest between each set and exercise.

During the study, participants were measured for absolute strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance and body composition. Rana and her colleagues found that the traditional strength group gained the most strength in two of the three workouts. The endurance group and the low velocity group both improved strength, but to a much lesser degree.

For example, the traditional strength group increased 61.8 percent in strength in the leg press exercise, while the low velocity group saw an increase of 26.9 percent and the traditional endurance group improved 23.4 percent. The traditional strength group also saw the most improvement in the knee extension exercise, increasing strength by 51.3 percent. The traditional strength group was not significantly different from the other training groups in the squat exercise.

Though the traditional endurance training group was still the most successful at boosting muscular endurance, the study found that cardiovascular endurance didn’t increase significantly in any of the groups.

“We tested cardiovascular endurance because a lot of the lay literature, the articles you might read in magazines, said it would improve. But no one has proven that,” Rana explained.

All of the groups combined showed a small decrease in percent body fat, but it was not statistically significant. The most significant improvements involved strength gain and endurance gain.

“The low velocity training obviously helps you,” Rana said. “You can gain some strength and muscle endurance, but the traditional methods are going to do a slightly better job for those two things.”

Co-authors on the paper were Gary Chleboun, Roger Gilders, Frederick Hagerman, Jennifer Herman, Robert Hikida, Michael Kushnick, Robert Staron and Kumika Toma, all of Ohio University.

Morning Beauty Tips

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; If you have respect for yourself and want the most out of your life, taking care of your own body is essential.

Health Tips

Move more:
Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster. Think 'move' in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing.

2. Cut Fat:
Avoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise.
3. Quit Smoking:
The jury is definitely in on this verdict. Ever since 1960 when the Surgeon General announced that smoking was harmful to your health, Americans have been reducing their use of tobacco products that kill. Just recently, we've seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens.
4. Reduce Stress:
Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e., Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible.
5. Protect Yourself from Pollution:
If you can't live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. Plant lots of shrubbery in your yard. It's a good pollution and dirt from the street deterrent.
6. Wear Your Seat Belt:
Statistics show that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes. Thought for the day: Buckle down and buckle up.

7. Floss Your Teeth:
Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't
8. Avoid Excessive Drinking :
While recent studies show a glass of wine or one drink a day (two for men) can help protect against heart disease, more than that can cause other health problems such as liver and kidney disease and cancer.

            9. Try green tea instead of normal tea and coffee.

           10. Go for a Walk:

Go for a walk. You don't need to join an exercise class if you don't want to. The most commonly used fats come from animal and vegetable sources and include stearic acid, palmitic, oleic, as well as lauric.
